Meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Republic of Lithuania

On 12 September 2007, Minister of Foreign Affairs Gela Bezhuashvili met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekûnas.

The sides discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral cooperation. Special mention was made of the importance of strategic partnership between the two countries. The talking points included, among others, the issues of Georgia’s accession to NATO and cooperation with the European Union. The Lithuanian side pledged full support for Georgia in this direction.

At the meeting the sides highlighted the security situation in the region, prospects for peaceful resolution of the conflicts in Georgia and the issues of energy security.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia provided his Lithuanian counterpart with information on the democratic reforms and reconstruction processes taking place in Georgia.
