Finnish parliamentary delegation visits Georgia

On 24 January 2008 Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr. Gela Bezhuashvili received the delegation of the Parliament of Finland led by Mr. Pertti Salolainen, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The sides discussed the issues of bilateral relations between Georgia and Finland, process of Georgia’s integration into the European structures, role of OSCE in the resolution of the existing conflicts on the territory of Georgia, relations with the neighbouring countries and other important international developments. The Acting Minister underlined Finland’s role in terms of support of Georgia in the light of the northern dimension regional cooperation (Nordic-Baltic region).

The sides also focused on details of a forthcoming visit of Mr. Ilkka Kanerva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland, current OSCE Chairman-in-Office, scheduled to take place by the end of February 2008.
