The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia visits Finland

On 30 May, in the framework of two day visit to the Republic of Finland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Eka Tkeshelashvili met with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.

Minister Tkeshelashvili briefed CiO Stubb on the recent parliamentary elections and developments in the Georgian breakaway regions, including the results of the investigations on the shooting down of the Georgian unmanned aerial vehicle on 20 April.

Minister Stubb reiterated the OSCE's full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders. He underscored the need for confidence building measures and proposed consideration of a new negotiation format in the South Ossetian conflict.
Following the meeting the two Ministers held a joint press conference.

During her visit Minister Tkeshelashvili also met Minister for Migration and European Affairs Ms. Astrid Thors, Special Representative of OSCE Chairman in Office Ambassador Heikki Tanvitie and Finnish MPs – Mr. Ilka Kanerva and Mr. Kimmo Kiljunen.

At the end of the visit Minister Tkeshelashvili attended the Georgian National Day celebration organized by the Finnish-Georgian Friendship Society. Representatives of Georgian Diaspora in Finland and Finnish friends of Georgia warmly welcomed the Georgian Minister.
