Information on the ambassadorial meeting of Georgian ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions

A meeting of Georgian ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions (ambassadorial) is held in Tbilisi, 7-8 September 2009. High on the agenda of the meeting are urgent issues of Georgia's foreign policy and main trends of further activity of the Georgian diplomatic missions abroad.

On the opening day of the ambassadorial meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze addressed Georgian diplomats giving a detailed survey of the key items of Georgia's foreign policy with a focus on the challenges faced by Georgian diplomacy.

Georgian State Minister on Reintegration Issues, Vice-Premier Temur Iakobashvili, State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues, Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze, Deputy Defence Minister Giorgi Muchaidze and Head of the Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Shota Utiashvili outlined main fields of activity and future plans of their respective ministries.

Discussions focused on a broad spectrum of issues, including, in particular, prospects for Georgia's integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Participants of the meeting also discussed the issues of security and the situation on the occupied territories of Georgia.

At the end of the meeting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu delivered remarks on the priority issues of Turkey's foreign policy.
