Celebration of the Independence Day of Georgia

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Georgia, on May 30, 2012, Georgian Embassy held a reception at the Baroque Hall of the Stockholm National History Museum, where various Christian artefacts from different regions of Sweden are exhibited. Representatives of Swedish Royal court, various Ministries and Agencies, members of the Swedish Riksdag, journalists, representatives of Swedish companies and members of Georgian community in Sweden, Heads of Diplomatic Missions attended official function (appr. 400 guests). H.E. Konstantin Kavtaradze, Ambassador of Georgia addressed distinguished audience. He spoke about the difficult path of Georgia's struggle for independence. He noted that in 1918, in the very first year of independence, Sweden was among those countries where young Georgian Republic established its first diplomatic missions. He stressed that in 2012, 94th unniversary of establishment and 20th unniversary of re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Sweden are celebrated. Ambassador thanked Sweden for support and solidarity to Georgia during 2008 August Russian - Georgian war and aftermath. Ambassador emphasized that Georgia is a leading reformer and one of the fastest developing dynamic democracies in the world with business friendly and uncorrupt environment. He invited Swedish companies to invest in Georgia. Ambassador underlined the importance of Swedish support in the process of Georgia's European integration. He spoke about the necessity to move relations between two countries to a new level, to promote direct business and economic co-operation, tourism, cultural and scientific exchange. Guests had a chance to listen to the church hymns written by Cathalicos Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II and taste Georgian wine and cuisine.
