International Session of the European Youth Parliament held in Stockholm
On 17-26 April, 2009, the 60th International Session of The European Youth Parliament was held in Stockholm, where a delegation from Georgia (three students and two teachers) participated as well. The Georgian delegation was led by Vakhtang Lomjaria. The session was inaugurated by the Crown Princess of Sweden - Victoria. At the meeting Minister for EU Affairs Sesilia Malmstrom and Vice-President of the European Commission Margot Wallstrom delivered speeches and unanimously expressed their support to the students’ gathering who had showed their enthusiasm, initiative and interest to the subject. More than 350 young persons from different European states were invited to Stockholm. With the Embassy’s co-sponsorship the Georgian delegation had an opportunity to participate in the session and actively was involved in debates. The main purpose was to promote relationship between young Europeans, arrange an educational exchange, promote discussions on actual global political and economic issues and facilitate dialogue between the cultures.
