Georgian-Swedish business seminar in Tbilisi

On 2-3 June, Georgian-Swedish business workshop and seminar "Export to Sweden" was held in Tbilisi. Mr. Anders Ahnlid, Director General of the Trade Policy at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs led the Swedish delegation comprised of trade experts, representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (dealing with trade and investment issues) and several Swedish companies.

The representatives of various Ministries working with international trade bilateral economic issues and companies interested in exporting products to Sweden and European market participated in the seminar from the Georgian side. The discussions were focused on strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation, a special emphasis was made on the rules and regulations existing in the EU internal market as well as the conformity requirements while exporting agricultural products and foodstuff from the third country. The overall goal of the seminar was to increase the bilateral trade turnover and especially the share of Georgian exports.

Swedish officials and the representatives of the Swedish companies held bilateral meetings with the Georgian counterparts. Transfer of Swedish know-how and attraction of Swedish investments were discussed during meetings as well.

The visit of the Swedish business-delegation in Tbilisi and the seminar was organized by the Swedish Trade Council, export promotion organization "Open Trade Gate" together with the National Investment Agency of Georgia and the Georgian Embassy in Stockholm.
