The First Annual Georgian Studies Day was held in Stockholm, on Tuesday, October 5 , 2010

The First Annual Georgian Studies Day - "Georgia's New Horizons: Restoration of Territorial Integrity and EU Integration" was held on 5th of October at the Stockholm School of Economics. The conference was held under the aegis of the Embassy of Georgia in Sweden, Swedish Institute for Transition Economics, with financial support of the Swedish Institute and Telecom company TeliaSonera. The main themes discussed during the whole day event were: Priorities of Georgia's foreign and domestic politics, Georgia's economic development dynamics and the Swedish companies' perspectives on doing business in Georgia, historical and cultural heritage of Georgia and its popularization, processes related to the formation of the civil society and enduring media freedom in Georgia. Georgian Ambassador to Sweden, H.E. Amiran Kavadze and Mrs. Malena Mård, Director of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden made welcoming remarks for the audience. Several keynote speakers invited from Tbilisi for Georgian Studies Day delivered presentations: Mrs. Tamar Beruchashvili, Deputy State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Mr. David Rakviashvili, Deputy State Minister for Reintegration, Ms. Shorena Shaverdashvili,  Publisher and Editor of an investigative Political weekly journal "Liberali", Mrs. Nino Lordkipanidze, Senior Researcher of Georgian National Museum. Georgian Studies Day was moderated by Mr. Svante Cornell, Director of the Institute for Development and Security Policy. The conference brought together many delegates from the government, business, academic and arts communities. Georgian Embassy hosted a wine reception following the conference.
