Presentation of Credentials to the King of Sweden and establishment of the Georgian Embassy in Sweden

On 3rd November 2006 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia Mr. Amiran Kavadze presented letters of credence to H.M. King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf.

A tête-à-tête meeting was held after the ceremony. Ambassador Kavadze passed to the King of Sweden warm regards of the President of Georgia, on its hand - the King expressed great interest towards the development processes taking place in Georgia, its history, present situation and future perspectives. During the meeting Ambassador of Georgia outlined the enormous reforms taking place in the country, the course of integration with the European Union and irreversible building-up processes based on good governance and deep democratic transformation of the society. The King was provided with detailed information on environmental and energy security issues, alternative energy supply routes to Georgia as a means of diversifying the energy supplies from Russian Federation. Measures taken by the Government of Georgia aimed at alleviating the negative impact of economic sanctions imposed by Russian authorities on Georgia were also discussed during the meeting. 

At the end of the meeting His Majesty the King of Sweden wished all the best and success to Georgia as well as to the newly established Embassy of Georgia to Sweden. In reply the Georgian Ambassador on behalf of the Government Georgia invited the Swedish Royal Family to Georgia to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.

From November 2006, the Embassy started its operation in Stockholm and in January 2007 the Embassy moved to premises in the center of Stockholm, at the following address: Humlegårdsgatan 19, 1 tr., SE-114 46 Stockholm.
