Web-site is in update mode
Dear Visitors,

I am honored and pleased to welcome you on behalf of the Embassy of Georgia to the People s Republic of China and express our hope that the information placed on the website of the Embassy will enrich you knowledge on the politics, economics, foreign policy, history, culture & education, legal affairs, non- governmental sector, other aspects of Georgia s life and particularly on the current status and prospects of the Georgian-Chinese cooperation.

Despite many challenges, Georgia continues the course of democratic transformations and economic reforms, improves the investment climate and business opportunities of the country in order to be more attractive for international partners and to provide stability for national socio-economic development. These measures should contribute to the implementation of the vitally important mission to us – the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and close cooperation with international community.

China, as one of the important part of this international community, is a good friend and partner for Georgia.  We have a rich historical background of our relations and interesting agenda for future collaboration.

For many centuries the historical Silk Road, that linked the Eastern and Western parts of the World, had passed through our countries. This fact has been proved by a silk segment, dating the 2 nd century B.C. and discovered in archeological excavations of ancestral burial in the Georgian region of Shida Kartli.

While going back to our recent history, we are pleased to mention, that Peoples Republic of China was among the first group of countries that had recognized the independence of Georgia in 1992.

After more than twenty years from the establishing of the diplomatic relations, Georgia and China have been developing the relations based on mutual respect, understanding and confidence, presenting a good example of fruitful and beneficial partnership.

At present, we witness a positive development of the economic cooperation between our countries. Today China is one of the leading trade partners of Georgia. Some examples, in 2013 our mutual trade turnover reached almost one billion US Dollars, doubled comparing with the year of 2012. China took the third place among the major foreign investors in Georgia in 2013.

There is an increase of the Chinese companies operating now days on Georgian market covering such sectors as energy, construction of the roads and other infrastructural objects, trade, banking sector, agriculture, real estate, communication, logistics and etc.  Tourism is considered as one of the most promising dimension of partnership between our countries. In this respect we mention with satisfaction the fact, that up to now days the Chinese partners did not express their claims regarding non favorable business environment in Georgia.

The Georgian business organizations are also trying to be actively presented on the Chinese market, particularly promoting such export commodities as wine and mineral waters, agricultural products, technologies,  developing the joint logistical centers and so on.

Culture and education are also traditionally important areas of our mutual cooperation.

Rich culture heritage Georgia and China successfully organized a number of art festivals and concerts, exhibitions of painters and this activity will be continued based on new projects.

Chinese language has become more and more popular in Georgia thanks to the Chinese and  Georgian specialists, the Georgian language currently also is a component part of the Languages study Center in the Peking University.

Joint participation in important large scale international trade-economic projects might be an integral part of our collaboration in the nearest run.

So, an updated agenda of cooperation between Georgia and China looks promising and interesting one and we invite you to be a part of it.

Hoping that the Embassy s web site will be informative and useful to the visitors we also kindly request you to be flexible in forwarding to us your proposals and comments regarding the activity of the Georgian Embassy and improvement of the image of our country in China.

Again many thanks for your readiness to cooperate with us and with best wishes.
