Ambassador of Georgia held a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of sweden

On January 26 the Ambassador of Georgia Irakli Khutsurauli held a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Ann Linde.

Sides discussed wide scope issues of bilateral cooperation. The prospect for further developing political, economic, and humanitarian relations was touched upon. The fruitful cooperation and Georgia’s progress within the frames of the Eastern Partnership Initiative were underscored.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude for close and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of security with the Embassy.

The Ambassador of Georgia updated the Minister on the grave humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia and conveyed appreciation for Sweden’s efforts as a Chairperson of the OSCE during 2021 in resolving the conflicts in Europe.  

Challenges to regional security were discussed with an emphasis on the worrying situation along the Ukrainian-Russian border and the potential aggression from the Russian Federation.

It was highlighted with delight that friendly relations have been established during the past years and the importance of holding various events to mark the 30 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations was underscored.
