The Ambassador of Georgia met with the expert of the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs

On July 19, 2023, Ambassador Irakli Khutsurauli met with Fredrik Wesslau, a Swedish diplomat and expert on the conflict in Eastern Europe, at the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
The sides discussed the ongoing occupation of the Georgian regions by the Russian Federation, as well as the implications of the war in Ukraine for European security and the South Caucasus countries in particular. Ambassador Khutsurauli briefed Wesslau on the current situation in Georgia and the progress that the country has made in implementing the recommendations of the European Union for Georgia to be granted candidate status of the EU.
Wesslau reconfirmed his support for Georgia's European future, and expressed his satisfaction with the progress the country has achieved on the path to EU membership. Sides agreed to continue fruitful cooperation and implement joint projects
