Visit of the Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council to the Kingdom of Sweden
Tbilisi City Council Chairman Giorgi Tkemaladze, First Deputy Chairman of the City Council Giorgi Akhvlediani, Chairman of the Health and Social Affairs Commission of the City Council Zurab Chikviladze and Chairman of the City Council Names and Symbols Commission Nino Vardosanidze visited the Kingdom of Sweden. Within the framework of the visit, representatives of the Tbilisi City Council met with Olle Burell, the chairman of the municipality council of Stockholm. During the meeting, the parties positively evaluated the relations between the countries and expressed their readiness to move to a new stage of cooperation. During the conversation, they discussed - the views of the Tbilisi City Council on the European integration process of Georgia, implemented and ongoing reforms, and the Swedish model of city planning and management. The parties expressed their desire for cooperation and outlined ways to implement joint projects.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation of the Tbilisi City Council also held a meeting with the head of the interparliamentary friendship group with Georgia, Gudrun Brunegård, and members of the friendship group.
In addition to the mentioned meetings, the representatives of the Tbilisi City Council visited the historical city of Uppsala, Sweden, and met with the vice-president of the City Municipality Council , Karl Lindberg, and the head of the Central Library of Uppsala University, Lars Burman. Members of the Tbilisi City Council got acquainted with the unique documents, maps, and rare books about Georgia preserved in the special storage of the Uppsala University Library. The Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, made a note in the book of honored guests of the library.
At the end of the visit, the delegation of the Tbilisi City Council visited the Administration for the Elderly in Stockholm, where Sweden's leading experts held a presentation on the specifics of the administration's work and the Swedish systems of social services for the elderly. Irakli Khutsurauli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of Sweden participated in the meetings of the Tbilisi City Council delegation.
