On the 24th of November, the Ambassador of Georgia Irakli Khutsuruali visited Uppsala Region.
During the visit, the Ambassador was welcomed in the Uppsala Castle by the Governor of the Uppsala Region, Göran Enander. Topics of potential cooperation between Uppsala and the administrative regions in Georgia, organizing various events by the Embassy in Uppsala, deepening economic cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people contacts were discussed. Ambassador Khutsuruali invited the Governor to visit Georgia.
The Ambassador of Georgia also visited Uppsala University Library which celebrates its 400th anniversary. He was hosted by the Director of the Library Mr. Lars Burman who displayed Georgian books kept in the archives, among them truly outstanding is Shota Rustaveli’s “The Night in the panther’s skin” presented by the noble Georgian family Chavchavadze to His Majesty the King of Sweden Oscar II back in 1889. Perspectives on establishing cooperation between the Uppsala Library and the National Library of Georgia were discussed.
In the frames of the visit to the region, the Ambassador held a working meeting in the Chamber of Commerce Uppsala. The Embassy held a presentation on the investment potential in Georgia for the head of the Chamber of Commerce and the representatives of the companies Ramböll and STUNS that were also present at the meeting.
