Ambassador met with the newly appointed Head of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On September 26, the Ambassador of Georgia, Irakli Khutsurauli, met with the newly appointed Deputy Director-General, Head of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peter Ericson.

Parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and activities to be held in 2023, including the possibility of exchanging high-level visits, also the prospects of Georgia's accession to the European Union and the importance of Sweden's support. The Ambassador informed his colleague about the current situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and emphasized the need for the unwavering support of the international community for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

The aggression carried out by Russia against Ukraine deteriorated the security environment, and existing challenges were highlighted. The Ambassador wished Peter Ericson success in his new position and expressed his desire for close cooperation in the future.
